Ideal Length of Trip:

14+
days
DESCRIPTION:

On this specially designed itinerary, experience the best of Thailand as well as some of the country’s hidden surprises – its natural beauty, artistic achievements, delicious cuisine and gracious people. Travel by boat, elephant, bamboo raft, foot, sea canoe, plane, and car. Enjoy accommodations at the end of each day’s adventure that embody the tranquil beauty and rustic elegance of the East.

The journey begins in Bangkok, with its sublime temples, bustling markets, and traditional life pulsing along its many canals. Head north to the heartland to explore two little visited national parks, followed by a visit to the ancient Siamese capital city Sukhothai, said to be grander than either London or Paris at the height of its splendor during the 13th and 14th centuries.

Then it’s off to Chiang Mai, a great center of traditional Thai arts, and gateway to Doi Inthanon National Park where we will meet seldom-visited hill tribe peoples and visit one of the country’s premier conservation centers. Sojourn to the fabled tropics of the south, to visit Khao Sok and Thale Noi National Parks, and sea canoe amidst the stunning limestone karst islands and legendary beaches of Phang-Nga Bay.

Returning to Bangkok for some superb food and accommodations, well earned from your remote explorations.

CONSIDER:
The itinerary can be timed to coincide with the most important festival in Thailand, Loy Krathong, a mesmerizing celebration that culminates with thousands of candles floating atop miniature banana-leaf boats along the country’s waterways.

OPTIONAL EXTENSIONS & ADD-ONS:

Angkor Wat in Cambodia or Luang Prabang in Laos.
